Although my veterinary hospital and pet shop is dedicated primarily to birds,
I have been a Marine Aquarium Hobbyist for over 38 years. I worked in the
first pet shop in New Jersey to carry saltwater fish (1970), furthering my
knowledge of the hobby ever since. Being scientifically-minded, I have
experimented with virtually every piece of equipment and technique both
in-and-out of vogue over the years. As a veterinarian, I take special interest
in fish parasites and other diseases and have strived to find the best system
to quarantine and treat these maladies.
I offer
SEMINARS to anyone interested in learning how to set up a successful reef tank.
Each class is limited to seven people. We meet in my home in view of my 500 gallon reef tank
(Click SEMINARS link for more information).
I have allocated one section of my pet shop for the sale of HIGH-TECH AQUARIA and EQUIPMENT.
Three reef tanks in my pet shop hold corals and other invertebrates for sale. All fish are
quarantined for at least 5 weeks and most are treated for all possible parasites prior to sale!
AND, I attempt to do this and still sell the fish at a price comparable to what you would pay in
most pet shops for non-quarantined fish that were probably just wild-caught and transported a
week or two earlier from the oceans. Stress from transport and PARASITES are a killer. Not
only do parasites kill fish, but they are largely responsible for most new hobbyists growing
frustrated and giving up the hobby. (My quarantined/treated fish should be worth 3-4 times
the cost of a non-quarantined fish!)
Upon request, I will email a current INVENTORY list with prices for FISH, CORALS, and other
INVERTEBRATES (including CLAMS).
